Hot Honey Apple Pie

A classic, with a little kick featuring Savannah Bee Company Hot Honey.

2 tablespoons Savannah Bee Company Hot Honey

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup all purpose flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

5-6 peeled, sliced apples of your choice (I used Granny Smith and gala for tart and sweet)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Dough for double crust pie

I egg

Coarse sugar

1. Preheat oven to 375. On a lightly floured surface, roll out half of the pie dough into a 1/8 inch circle and transfer to a 9 inch pie pan.

2. In a large bowl, toss sliced apples in hot honey and lemon juice.

3. In a small bowl, combine flour, both sugars, cinnamon, ground ginger, ground nutmeg, and sea salt. Combine with apples and coat well.

4. Pour filling into crust.

5. Roll second crust into a 1/8 inch circle and place over filling. Trim and crimp edges. You can use any excess dough to make cut outs to decorate your pie. Cut slits in the top of the pie.

6. In a small bowl, beat egg. Brush over entire crust. Sprinkle with coarse sugar and bake for 45 minutes, checking after 20 minutes. If crust is getting too dark, loosely cover edge in foil.

7. Top with ice cream or fresh whipped cream and drizzle with more HOT HONEY.
