Sunny Honey Buddies Snack Mix

We love how many names “muddy buddies” have. Muddy Buddies, Dog Chow, Reindeer Chow, Doggy Bags, Monkey Munch, the list goes on and on and on… but our favorite? These sunflower infused Sunny Honey Buddies! The happiest snack around!

Sunny Honey Buddies Snack Mix
(sunflower butter, rice cereal + sunflower honey)
Makes 9 cups

What you need:
9 cups rice cereal (we used Rice Chex)
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup sunflower butter
1/4 cup Savannah Bee Company honey (we used Sunflower Honey)
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted

What to do:

1. Wash Up!

2. Make the coating: In a large bowl put all cereal, set aside. In a large pot combine butter, honey and chocolate chips. Heat over low until the chocolate chips are completely smooth and melted.

3. Make the buddies: Using a rubber spatula, stir the chocolate mixture into the Chex bowl and combine to coat thoroughly. Add powdered sugar in three additions and stir to coat all cereal.

To Serve: Bag up portions of Sunny Buddies for classmates around the holidays or toss them into a serving bowl and share with houseguests at a yuletide party!

Pro Tip: You don’t have to use a bowl for these. You can always go with the classic way of making muddy buddies with a paper grocery bag. Simply add ingredients, close the bag and SHAKE. It’s a great job for little hands too!
