If you’re going to start a tradition, might we recommend first day of school cookies. Or “you studied so hard and now that test is over” cookies. Decompressing after a long day or a big meeting with your loved ones and a chocolate chip cookie that’s gooey and warm is one of our hive’s favorite traditions.
THE VERY BEST Honey Chocolate Chip Cookies
(chocolate, flaked sea salt + whipped honey with cinnamon)
What you need:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter softened
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup Savannah Bee Company Whipped Honey with Cinnamon
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (or bittersweet chocolate if you like your cookies less sweet)
Flaked sea salt for finishing
What to do:
1. Wash Up!
2. Make the dough: In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and kosher salt. Set aside. In the bowl of a standing mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat together butter, brown sugar, sugar and honey on medium high until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and mix on low until combined. Scrape down the bowl and add the dry ingredients mixing on low until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
3. Shape the cookies: Using a cookie scoop, scoop out cookies onto a small baking sheet to chill. These balls can be touching each other. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before baking.
4. Bake the cookies: Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare two baking sheets with parchment paper. Place refrigerated cookie balls on baking sheets and bake for 10-11 minutes or until the bottoms have just started to turn golden. When you remove the cookie tray from the oven, bang the tray on the counter to knock air out of the cookie and help them crisp up as they cool. Sprinkle with a finishing salt or flakey sea salt while hot.
To Serve: Delicious warm or cold!
Pro Tip: Large chunks of chopped chocolate look beautiful and melt better than chocolate chips for a more professional looking cookie.
