Rodeo on the Rocks
If denim were a drink, it would be this. A little smoke, fiery hot honey heat, and a refreshing fizz of Topo Chico are lassoed together to create the perfect bold beverage. Cowboy hat not included.
Rodeo on the Rocks (A Spicy Mezcal Cocktail)
(denim-colored ice cubes, hot honey + smoky mezcal)
Serves 1
What you need:
4 cups hot water
¾ cup butterfly pea flowers
Round ice cube trays
3 tablespoons mezcal
1 teaspoon Savannah Bee Company Hot Honey
Cold mineral water (such as Topo Chico)
What to do:
1. Wash Up!
2. Make the ice cubes: Combine the water and pea flowers and let steep for 2 minutes. Strain the flowers, reserving the liquid. Pour half of the liquid into ice cube trays. Dilute the remaining liquid with more water to create a lighter blue. Pour the remaining liquid into the ice cube trays. Freeze until solid.
3. Make the cocktail: Combine the mezcal and hot honey in a measuring cup.
To Serve: Place desired amount of ice cubes in a tall glass. Pour the mezcal mixture over the top. Top with mineral water.
Pro Tip: You can add tonic water or a squeeze of lime or lemon to this cocktail, but the acid will turn it from blue to purple.
