White Pizza with Hot Honey
(grilled pizza with ricotta, garlic + hot honey)
Serves 2 - 4
What you need:
1 (1-pound) deli pizza dough, at room temperature
6 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for crust
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
½ teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup whole milk ricotta cheese
1 (8-ounce) package fresh mozzarella, torn into large pieces
1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for garnish
Fresh basil
Savannah Bee Company Hot Honey, for drizzling
What to do:
1. Wash Up!
2. Preheat the grill: Place a pizza stone on the grill. (If this is your first time doing this, make the job easier by removing any upper-level rack that might be in the grill.) Close the grill lid and preheat to high heat (500°F).
3. Prep the pizza: Generously flour a flat baking sheet. (If you don’t have a flat baking sheet, turn a rimmed baking sheet upside down.) Stretch the pizza dough out to a 10- to 12-inch circle. Stir together the olive oil, garlic, parsley, rosemary, oregano, and salt in a small bowl. Pour the oil over the dough and spread to cover evenly. Dollop 2 to 3 tablespoonfuls of ricotta on top of the dough. Dot with fresh mozzarella, and top with grated parmesan. Drizzle more olive oil over the top.
4. Grill the pizza: Using a large metal spatula or pizza peel, slide the pizza off the baking sheet and onto the hot pizza stone. Close the grill lid and cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Open the grill lid and use the spatula or pizza peel to rotate the pizza on the stone. Cover the grill lid and cook 5 to 10 more minutes or until the crust begins to brown and cheese is melted.
To Serve: Remove the pizza from grill and transfer to a platter or board. Sprinkle the pizza with Parmesan cheese and basil and drizzle generously with hot honey before diving in!
Pro Tip: Is the weather crummy or you don’t feel like grilling? You can also make this pizza in the oven.
Table Talk: Trivia time, where did pizza originate? (You can’t just say Italy. It’s Napoli or Naples!)
