Jalapeño Poppers
(jalapeños + cheese, bacon + honey hot sauce)
Serves 12
What you need:
12 medium to large jalapeño peppers
1 (8-ounce) block cream cheese, softened
½ (8-ounce) block Cheddar cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons Savannah Bee Company Honey Hot Sauce, plus more for serving
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon kosher salt
2 tablespoons chopped chives, plus more for garnish
6 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
What to do:
1. Wash Up!
2. Prep the jalapeños: Preheat the oven to 400°F. Cut the jalapeños in half lengthwise. Scoop out the membranes and seeds.
3. Stuff the peppers: Beat the cream cheese in a medium bowl until creamy. Stir in the Cheddar cheese, hot sauce, garlic powder, salt, green onion, and ¾ of the bacon. Stuff the cheese mixture into the pepper halves and place on a parchment paper-lined rimmed baking sheet.
4. Make the topping and bake: Stir together the panko and melted butter. Sprinkle the mixture over the tops of the jalapeños. Bake for 20 minutes or until the peppers are tender, the filling is bubbly, and the topping is golden brown.
To Serve: Transfer the peppers to a platter. Drizzle with more hot sauce and garnish with more bacon and chives.
Pro Tip: Be careful when handling the jalapeños when you scoop out the membranes and seeds. You may want to wear gloves, but at the very least wash your hands well after handling.
