Real Honey is Seasonal
One of the questions we get asked a lot is, “Why is this honey out of stock?” And the answer is simple: real honey is seasonal.
Our honeys are made by bees gathering nectar from specific blooms, in specific places, during a very specific window of time. If those blooms are affected by weather, drought, too much rain, heat, cold, or any unusual weather, the honey harvest changes too. That’s especially true for our rare varietals like Black Sage and Sourwood.
Some years bring a beautiful, abundant harvest. Other years, the bloom is shorter, the weather doesn’t cooperate, or nectar flow is reduced, and the supply is much smaller. That’s part of what makes these honeys so special.
Each jar reflects a real place, a real season, and the fragile relationship between bees, blossoms, and the natural world. When a honey sells out it’s not always gone forever. It means we’re waiting for the next season.
We know it can be disappointing when your favorite honey isn’t available. But we also believe that for the real thing it’s worth the wait.
Thanks for being part of this with us, and for supporting the bees, the beekeepers, and the plants that make these honeys possible.
