Bee in a Blanket
Bee-ware… These are so cute you’ll never BEE able to make regular hotdogs again.
Bee in a Blanket
(hot dogs, honey + adorable dough)
Serves 6
What you need:
4-6 your favorite hot dogs
1 can prepared crescent dough
3 tablespoons Savannah Bee Company honey (we used Bee Cause Honey), warmed slightly
What to do:
1. Wash Up!
2. Preheat the oven to 350℉. Prepare two cookie sheets with parchment paper.
3. Prepare Crescent Dough: Remove crescent dough from the tube, place on one cookie sheet and gently combine all edges/perforations. Using a 2” circle cutter, cut one circle for each hotdog (leave in place do not remove from dough yet.) In the remaining space of the dough, make long, thin strips of dough roughly 1/2” wide.
4. Wrap Hot Dogs: Gently wrap each hotdog in 3-4 strips of dough leaving 1 inch of space at the top and bottom. Cut excess dough to be used on another hot dog. Once all hotdogs are wrapped in dough, gently stretch the circular pieces into ovals and pinch at the center to create “Wings.” Place the wings on the cookie sheet and press striped hot dogs gently into the center.
5. Finish Hotdogs: Drizzle with warm honey and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the dough is golden brown.
To Serve: Assemble your hive and serve with Hot Honey Mustard for dipping!
*Level Up: If you would like to make antennae: collect any remaining 1-inch long sections of dough and cut in half leaving 1/4” of the strip connected. Separate and twist the ends to create antennae and connect to the wings before adding the hotdog. Use small sausages or cut your hot dogs in half and make "Baby Bees in a Blanket" for a fun appetizer!
