Brownie Bourbon Balls
(bourbon, cocoa powder + whipped honey)
Makes 40
What you need:
12 tablespoons butter (1 1/2 sticks)
6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate bar, chopped (can substitute chocolate chips)
2 eggs
1 egg yolk
1/2 cup Savannah Bee Company Honey (we used Savannah Bee Company Original Whipped Honey or Savannah Bee Company Winter White Whipped Honey)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons bourbon
For rolling:
1/4 cup of Dutch process cocoa powder, coarse sugar, sprinkles, cinnamon sugar, or a topping of your choice. Mix it up!
What to do:
1. Wash Up!
2. Melt the butter and chocolate: Preheat oven to 350° F and butter an 11 x 17 baking dish. In a small saucepan over a pan of simmering water, melt the butter and chocolate together stirring until smooth, set aside.
3. Make the brownie: In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, honey and salt. Once combined, add in the chocolate mixture and whisk until smooth. Add in the flour until the batter is shiny and smooth. Pour into prepared pan, bake 8-9 minutes or until a tester comes out not entirely clean! These should be fudgy. Cool completely.
4. Make the balls: In a medium size bowl, break down the brownie into small fine crumbs. Add the bourbon and mix until the brownie crumbs are evenly moistened. Using a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, roll 1-inch balls and coat in your toppings. Store in the fridge and use as needed.
To Serve: These make great handmade gifts around the holidays. A thoughtful note is the only addition needed!
Pro Tip: You can use a microwave to melt the chocolate, but do so in small increments to avoid burning the chocolate. 15 seconds at a time is ideal.
