Sautéed Dates and Figs with Goat Cheese
Introducing THE perfect appetizer for the season. Roasted figs and dates are bathed in a Tupelo honey bath and served with velvety whipped goat cheese. What could be better?
Sautéed Dates and Figs with Goat Cheese
(figs, dates, goat cheese + honey)
Serves 4 - 6
What you need:
3 tablespoons salted butter
1 cup halved fresh figs
1 cup halved pitted Medjool dates
1 (4-ounce) log goat cheese, at room temperature
1½ cups plain whole milk Greek yogurt
3 sprigs fresh oregano, stemmed and leaves chopped, plus more for garnish
2 sprigs fresh thyme, stemmed and leaves chopped, plus more for garnish
2 tablespoons Savannah Bee Company Honey (we used Tupelo Honey), plus more for garnish
What to do:
1. Wash Up!
2. Sauté the figs and dates: Melt the butter over in a skillet over medium heat. Add the dates and figs, cut sides down, and cook without turning until browned.
3. Prepare the dip: Beat the goat cheese, yogurt, herbs and 2 tablespoons of the honey in a bowl until creamy.
To Serve: Spoon the whipped cheese onto serving plates in a delicious swirl. Add the dates and figs and garnish with herbs. Drizzle with more honey and enjoy.
Pro Tip: This appetizer is also great served with crostini. You can also add prosciutto if you’re looking for a heartier snack.
