Honey BBQ Little Smokies
Smothered with a sweet tangy honey barbecue sauce glaze, these little sausages are perfect for your game day get together, holiday party, and potluck. It makes a gracious plenty which is a good thing, since we know they’ll disappear quickly.
Honey BBQ Little Smokies
(cocktail sausages + sweet and tangy BBQ sauce)
Serves 12 to 16
What you need:
1 (16-ounce) bottle Savannah Bee Company Honey BBQ Sauce (we used Sweet BBQ Sauce)
1 (12-ounce) bottle Heinz chili sauce
2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons Savannah Bee Company Honey (we used Bourbon Honey)
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
3 (14-ounce) packages cocktail sausages (such as Hillshire Farm Lit’l Smokies)
Sliced green onions for garnish
What to do:
1. Wash Up!
2. Make the sauce: Combine the BBQ sauce, chili sauce, soy sauce, honey, paprika, and garlic powder in a large saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer.
3. Cook the sausages: Add the cocktail sausages to the sauce. Simmer, covered, for at least 30 minutes to allow the sauce to flavor the sausages.
To Serve: Transfer to cast-iron skillets, serving dishes, or serve right from the pot with toothpicks. Sprinkle with green onions before serving.
Pro Tip: This recipe can also be made in a slow cooker and the sausages kept warm during serving time.
