Hot Honey Turkey Meatballs
(turkey meatballs + hot honey wing sauce)
Serves 8 to 12 (makes 36 appetizer-size meatballs)
What You Need:
For the meatballs:
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
½ cup whole milk
1½ pounds ground turkey (not ground turkey breast)
1 large egg
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Chopped green onions for garnish
For the hot honey sauce:
½ cup salted butter
½ cup Savannah Bee Company honey (we used Savannah Bee Company Hot Honey) plus more for serving
1½ tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon tomato paste
What to do:
1. Wash Up!
2. Make the Meatball Mixture: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with a baking rack and coat with cooking spray. Stir together the panko and milk in a medium bowl. Let stand for 5 minutes or until the breadcrumbs are softened. Add the ground turkey, egg, salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and pepper and mix gently to combine.
3. Shape and Bake the Meatballs: Shape the meat mixture into 36 meatballs. Place the meatballs on the prepare baking rack. Bake for 20 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through.
4. Make the Hot Honey Sauce: Meanwhile, melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the hot honey, soy sauce, and tomato paste and stir until combined. Add the meatballs to the sauce, stirring to coat.
To Serve: Transfer the meatballs to a serving bowl. Drizzle with more hot honey and sprinkle with green onions.
Pro Tip: Use a cookie scoop to shape the meat mixture into meatballs with less mess.
