I’m one of those people who has struggled with dry lips all my life. I spent most of my life using petroleum-based lip products that I had to reapply constantly. I used to catch myself picking peeling lip skin away and licking my lips in an attempt to hydrate, but it never worked. Then I started working at Savannah Bee and gave the lip balms a try.
I’ve never had something work so well on my lips! No more picking and licking. Now, I have lip balms stashed all over my apartment: on the coffee table, next to the bathroom sink, by the bedside lamp, always in my pocket, and in every purse and bag I own (which are NUMEROUS). The only place I don’t have one is in the car, because I discovered the Savannah heat doesn’t have the best effect on the natural ingredients.
Just FYI: Your lips don’t have oil glands, so if you don't take extra good care of them, you’ll feel and see the effects pretty quickly. Lucky for your lips, our Beeswax Lip Balm not only conditions but creates a protective layer for that delicate skin. With the launch of our two newest lip balms -- Honey Almond and Rosemary Lavender -- we thought we’d examine what makes Savannah Bee Company lip balms so great.
As you might expect, one of the most important and well-known ingredients in our body care products, including our lip balms, is honey. And rightly so. Honey
contains a wide array of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that nourish and protect the skin. Honey also is very hydrating. As a natural humectant, it draws moisture from the air and locks it into skin to help keep it hydrated over time. The natural alpha-hydroxy acids in honey provide gentle exfoliation, removing dead skin cells and uncovering the soft, smooth skin underneath. If you want soft, smooth, moisturized lips, honey is the magic.
Another important hive product in our lip balms is beeswax. We use beeswax because it won’t clog pores and allows skin to breathe. It also helps ensure an even distribution of all the beneficial ingredients we pack into each little twist-up tube. Beeswax provides essential fatty acids, vitamins, and protective properties, and like honey, is a natural humectant. The conditioning properties of beeswax help to feed the skin while providing a protective shield from the elements. It's really the ultimate lip balm ingredient.
This skin superfood is derived from two oily kernels within the shea (Karite) tree seed. Shea butter is packed with vitamins A, E and F, which are essential in helping the skin stay healthy, repair itself, and fight the signs of aging. Shea Butter's high concentrations of fatty acids make it an ideal beauty product ingredient and are known to aid in the skin’s natural collagen production. A natural anti-inflammatory, shea butter helps calm redness and soothe dry, damaged skin. The oils in shea butter easily penetrate the skin without clogging pores, creating a smooth and soft barrier that seals in moisture for several hours.
Sunflower Seed Oil
Sunflower seed oil contains a large range of nutrients, minerals, and vitamins, and – like beeswax and shea butter -- is easily absorbed without clogging pores. Sunflower seed oil has terrific emollient properties that help the skin retain moisture. It contains vitamins E, A, C, and D and fatty acids that act as antioxidants, which help in preventing signs of aging by protecting the collagen and elastin in the skin. The linoleic acid (omega-6) in sunflower seed oil has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce redness and irritation.
New and Organic
For our Honey Almond and Rosemary Lavender Lip Balms, we modified our existing lip balm formula ever so slightly so it qualifies as Certified USDA Organic -- something we know is important you. Just like all our other lip balms, it goes on smooth and is never greasy, chalky, clumpy, or sticky. This is thanks to all our excellent ingredients that provide intense softening and hydration. These two new lip balms continue Savannah Bee’s commitment to bringing you the highest quality, most effective natural ingredients that are gonna do your body good.
