Sirloin, Figs, and Honey Whipped Gorgonzola on Crostini
It's finally fig season! Figs, gorgonzola, honey and sirloin steak make the perfect appetizer. This is a delicious and easy appetizer to whip up when you've already got the grill going for dinner.
Ingredients
1 Loaf Italian or French Bread
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1 Pint Fresh Figs
1 Pint Fresh Black Mission Figs
2 Sirloin Steaks about 1 Pound Total
1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
1 Teaspoon Fresh Black Pepper
8 Ounces Gorgonzola Cheese
2 Tablespoons Sourwood Honey
½ Teaspoon Salt
½ Teaspoon Pepper
Directions
- Pre heat oven to 350 degrees
- Slice the bread into rounds and drizzle with olive oil then place on a baking pan and toast in oven for 6-8 minutes until crispy set aside
- Slice the figs in half and set aside
- Season steak with salt and pepper and grill till medium rare set aside
- In a food processor add the cheese, honey, salt and pepper and whip
- When Steak has rested for about 20 minutes cut into slices
- Lay the crostini bread out and spread with the whipped cheese then lay the steak on it as well as the fresh figs
- Sprinkle with a little crumbled blue cheese and serve
