Homemade Honey Applesauce

You'll love this simple and healthy homemade Honey Applesauce, perfect for latkes this Hanukkah. Choose a range of apples from tart to sweet for a deliciously balanced flavor.  We use buttery Tupelo Honey for this recipe because it compliments apples so well.  Sourwood Honey and Acacia Honey are also excellent choices, but it's really up to you to choose your favorite. A subtle honey flavor will come through, so choose wisely! dsc_5684

Ingredients:


4 large tart and sweet apples - cored, sliced, and peeled (mostly)
3oz. Tupelo Honey
1/4 cup water
1 Ripe Lemon
Dash of Cinnamon
Dash of Saltdsc_5731

Directions:


1. In a large pot over medium heat combine: water, Tupelo Honey, salt, cinnamon, apples, and lemon juice
2. Stir occasionally to coat apples in other ingredients, cook up to 20 minutes or until the apples are tender and breaking down
3. For a rustic, chunky sauce, mash and stir apple sauce well.  Blend in processor for a smoother Homemade Honey Applesauce
4. Store in airtight container for up to one week in the refrigerator
